Search a comprehensive collection of published scientific research in the chemistry, engineering and bioscience fields by author name, research topic, substance identifier, chemical structure, or chemical reaction.

Access Conditions

The use of SciFinder is limited to the University of Louisville students, staff and faculty. It is also limited to educational and not-for-profit research purposes. Access to SciFinder is restricted to two simultaneous users. Scifinder will time out of the session if it is inactive for 10 minutes. If you are unable to connect, please try again later. Also, please remember to disconnect from SciFinder when you have finished so it is available to other patrons.

Accessing the Web Version of SciFinder

Recommended web browsers:

  1. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Versions 6.x and 7.x
  2. Mozilla FirefoxTM, Version 2.0 and 3.0
  3. Apple SafariTM 3.0 and 3.1

JavaScriptTM, JavaTM, and cookies must be enabled. Java runtime environment (JRE) is needed for structure drawing.

Accessing the Mobile Version of SciFinder

  1. Log into your SciFinder account and enable the Mobile version first. 
  2. Access the mobile version.
 

Hours of operation

The operating hours for SciFinder are Sunday 1:00 AM until Saturday 10:00 PM.

On the first Saturday of each month, SciFinder will only be available until 5:00 PM and will not be accessible again until 1:00 PM the following day (Sunday).

All times are Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Coverage: 1907 to the present; updated daily
Formats: Journal articles, patents, conference papers and proceedings, registry records, chemical substance data

Availability: Faculty, student and staff of UofL while on UofL Campuses. Maximum number of simultaneous users: 3.
