Access conditions

The use of Beilstein/MDL Crossfire Commander is limited to the University of Louisville students, staff and faculty. It is also limited to educational and not-for-profit research purposes.

Beilstein/MDL Crossfire Commander is also accessible on most all of the public workstations in the UofL libraries - just find and click on the MDL CrossFire Commander icon on the desktop.

 

Beilstein Crossfire Commander, Version 7.1 for PC

You can now use the Beilstein/MDL Crossfire Commander V7.1 from your office or lab. CrossFire Beilstein, an integrated client/server application, contains 8 million compounds, 9 million reactions, and over 35 million associated chemical property and bioactivity records. When available, the full-text of articles found with Beilstein/MDL Crossfire Commander can be accessed.

Note: MDL no longer develops Commander for the Macintosh platform.
To date, Commander 6 for Macintosh is still being supported by MDL, however the libraries are not supporting version 6.

To install Beilstein/MDL Crossfire Commander:
At this point at UofL the product is only available for the PC platform

  1. Exit all applications on your computer.
  2. Click on: Download Beilstein/MDL Crossfire Commander 7.1(NOTE: Must be on the University network.)
  3. Save the .EXE file on your hard disk; for example, your Desktop.
  4. Double-click on the saved .EXE file and let the auto-installer run, answering YES to the license, and NEXT all the way to the finish.

NOTE: The default installation of Commander uses MDL IsisDraw as the default structure editor. You can change this under the options/structure editor menu. You may also download a free version of IsisDraw from MDL's website (requires you to individually register).
